Graduation Criteria

Students must satisfy the following conditions to graduate from the undergraduate program:

  • All credit and non-credit courses must be completed with a minimum grade of DD or P (i.e., no F grades may remain in any course, whether credit or non-credit).
  • The program must be completed with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00.

Single Course Examination

Students whose cumulative GPA is at least 2.00 and who are unable to fulfill the graduation requirements solely due to having received an F grade in one course (credit or non-credit) may be granted the right to take a single course examination without repeating the course (Yet, it is subject to the approval of the course instructor and the administrative board).

If students pass the single-course exam, they will receive a grade of DD for the course.

(Students may apply for the single course examination only after all other course grades have been recorded to their transkript. Upon obtaining the course instructor's approval, they must submit a petition requesting the examination. The examination will be administered at the time and place specified by the instructor.)

Graduation Application

To obtain the diploma, a completed graduation application form must be submitted through the system, and a signed hard copy of the approved application must be delivered to the Registrar's Office. The graduation application is submitted through the OBIKAS system (registration.bogazici.edu.tr → Student Information → Application for Graduation).

After updating their personal information, students submit the graduation application form electronically via the system. The application is then forwarded through the system to the relevant units (Library, Budget and Performance Directorate, Dormitory, and Student Affairs Office) for approval. For the application to be approved, all outstanding obligations to the University must be settled, and all materials borrowed from the Library must be returned.

To obtain approval from the Student Affairs Office, the BUCard must be returned.

Once all approvals have been completed, a printed copy of the form must be signed and submitted to the department secretariat.

To receive the diploma at the graduation ceremony, students must complete all clearance procedures by the deadline set by the Registrar's Office.

Note: Signatures must also be obtained on the same form for double major and minor programs.

Conditions for Participation in the Graduation Ceremony

Students are required to follow the announcements shared on the University website for graduation information: https://mezuniyettoreni.bogazici.edu.tr

Undergraduate students whose remaining credits are 10 credits or fewer, may participate in the graduation ceremony; however, they will not receive their diploma at that time. They will receive their diploma at the first subsequent graduation ceremony after fulfilling all graduation requirements. After becoming eligible for graduation (e.g., upon completion of summer school or at the end of the fall semester), students may be issued a "temporary graduation certificate" equivalent to the diploma.
