Course Selection
Rules Regarding Course Selection
A. Taking Extra Courses
No extra courses can be taken in the first semester.
Students with a CGPA > 3.00 at the end of the first semester can take 1 extra course in the second semester. Students with a CGPA > 3.25 at the end of the second semester who have a total of 27 credits can take 3 extra courses in the third semester (a total of 18 credits). Thus, they can graduate by taking two non-credit courses in their final semester.
If CGPA < 3.00, extra courses cannot be taken. However, students who have a CGPA < 3.00 but are in their graduation status may be allowed to increase their course load with the approval of their advisor and the Department.
B. Reducing Course Load
Course load cannot be reduced and students cannot withdraw from courses in the first four semesters.
C. Repeating Courses
Students whose general grade point average is below 3.00 and who want to raise their CGPA to 3.00 are granted the right to repeat a maximum of two courses in which they received CC and/or CB grades.
D. Taking Elective Courses
Each student can take a maximum of two undergraduate courses as electives (Regulation article 12).
Master's students cannot take courses from the Ph.D. program.
E. Taking Leave of Absence
The regulation (Article 22) grants a two-semester leave right. In the Department of Business Administration, it has been decided that leave in the first semester will be granted only by counting towards the period.
F. Warnings Regarding Registrations
Since healthy advising cannot be provided to students who do not register until the very last day of the registration period, all master's students are required to have their registrations ready for advisor approval two days before the end of the registration period. It has been decided that the excuses of students who do not comply with this and whose programs are "rejected" by their advisor will be evaluated by the Head of Department, and only those whose excuses are accepted will be allowed to register.
During registration, students must check that their registration has been accepted (APPROVE) by their advisor to ensure that the advisor has given approval. Otherwise, a student whose program is rejected (REJECT) must make a late registration.
A quota has been set on the number of students faculty members can work with in Term Project I and II (AD 593 and AD 594) courses. Therefore, prior to registration, each student must select a faculty member in the field related to the topic they wish to work on, register for that faculty member's course using the code specified in the schedule (by encoding the section number), and then send it to their advisor for approval.
Students are required to notify the Department of Business Administration Chairmanship of their project topics and the name of the faculty member they will work with by the end of the add-drop period.
For students in "irregular" status, one or two Term Project I / II courses will be opened each semester. For example, for students graduating in the Fall semester, one or two AD594 coded Term Project II courses will be opened to ensure they can register. The student will be able to complete their project with the faculty member they were previously working with.
G. Students Participating in Exchange Programs
Students participating in exchange programs are required to have their advisor approve the courses they will take at the host university before departure in order for them to take compulsory courses of the Business Administration Program at the host institution and have these courses counted. Otherwise, the courses they take will be counted as elective courses.
