Course Selection

Undergraduate Course Registration and Approval Rules

Essential guidelines that Department of Business Administration students must follow regarding course selection, registration, and program approval processes.

Students are strongly advised to read the university's undergraduate education regulations and registration FAQ page prior to their course registration procedures.

01 — Course Schedule Approval Process

  • Courses are required to be taken in the semesters specified in the curriculum.
  • Compulsory courses with an F grade must be retaken in the first semester they are offered.
  • Courses remaining from previous semesters due to exchange programs, course withdrawals, or F grades must be taken in the first semester they are offered.
  • Courses with prerequisites cannot be taken without fulfilling the prerequisite. In special cases, they can be added via e-petition with the approval of the instructor and the relevant executive board decision.

02 — Course Schedule Conflict Rules

  • Conflicts between AD-coded courses themselves or with other courses are not permitted.
  • For non-AD-coded courses, conflicts of a maximum of one class hour may be allowed under compulsory circumstances—such as graduation requirements—and subject to departmental approval.
  • For AD elective, free elective, and HSS elective courses, students must choose courses that fit their schedule and do not create conflicts. Arbitrary conflicts are not accepted.

03 — Elective Course Rules

  • Starting from the 2026–2027 Fall semester, courses carrying 1 or 2 credits cannot be counted towards graduation. Courses to be counted towards graduation must carry at least 3 credits.
  • Students who receive an F grade in a general elective or departmental elective course can retake it with another course in the same category. During registration, the phrase "repeat F [course code]" must be added next to the new course.
  • Students must take the number of Departmental Elective and Unrestricted Elective courses specified in the program. Departmental electives may be taken in place of general electives.
  • Only AD-coded courses are accepted as departmental electives.
  • A maximum of one course can be selected from non-100-level AE courses offered by the School of Foreign Languages.

04 — Students in the First Two Semesters

  • All courses in the first two semesters must be taken in the semester they are first offered. These courses, including electives, cannot be postponed, dropped, or withdrawn from.
  • Except for non-credit courses, excessive course load cannot be taken in the first two semesters.
  • HSS requirement: One HSS course must be taken in each of the first two semesters. Otherwise, the course schedule will not be approved.
  • HSS course lists can be accessed via the Student Affairs or Registration System .
  • A student who fails a course in their first semester must retake the course in the semester it is first offered. If the course is not offered, other compulsory courses without prerequisites are taken.
  • Students who pass the English proficiency exam and wish to start their undergraduate education in the summer term can only select foreign language courses during the summer school.

05 — Other Course Selection Rules

  • Except for freshman students, the minimum credit load per semester is 15, and the maximum credit load with advisor approval is 26.
  • Department of Business Administration program courses in which a DC or DD grade was received can be repeated a maximum of six times, within four semesters following their last taking, and at most once per semester, with advisor approval.
  • Students have a total limit of 5 course withdrawals throughout their undergraduate education. It can be used a maximum of twice in summer terms and a maximum of three times in fall and spring terms. Non-credit (NC) courses are also included in this limit.
  • At least 112 credits must be completed for courses with a prerequisite of "4th year standing".
  • In their fourth year, students with a CGPA of at least 3.00 may take a maximum of two AD 5xx-coded courses as departmental electives with faculty member approval.

06 — Special Cases

  • Exchange programs: It is strongly recommended that students participating in Erasmus and similar programs take courses equivalent to the compulsory courses they miss during their exchange term.
  • Repeat students: Courses with F grades must be retaken in the first semester they are offered. Courses with DC and DD grades can be repeated optionally. In addition to these, a maximum of two new courses can be taken. The course load cannot exceed 18 credits.
  • International students: Instead of HTR 311/312 and TK 221/222, other HTR and TK-coded courses offered for international students by the relevant departments must be taken.
